The Why: Jerusalem

Embrace this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect with God, yourself, and peers of other cultures. Summit Jerusalem trains youth to be leaders by helping them faithfully ask difficult questions about the ongoing Restoration of the Gospel, world history, and current world conflicts. Through encountering new cultures, visiting historical sites, and diving deeply into the scriptures, Builders will learn how to courageously face the unknown. They will return home with the tools to strengthen the foundations of their own faith, as well as help their family and peers do the same.

On our Summit Jerusalem trip, Builders will visit sites important to the Savior’s life, including Bethlehem, Nazareth, the Jordan River, Calvary, and the Garden Tomb, among others. At each location, Builders will learn the context of the stories that took place there. They will worship with their Jewish brothers and sisters at the Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest site, as well as at other synagogues. They will visit the Dome of the Rock and learn about Islam’s holy sites. They will learn how to herd sheep, grow Biblical herbs, and pull water from wells and cisterns. They will experience a simulation of 1st-century Nazareth and enjoy a 1st-century meal from a 1st-century-esque kitchen.

In Jericho, Builders will float in the Dead Sea. In Galilee, they will boat on the Sea of Galilee and canoe on the Jordan River.

Coming home from Summit, not only will Builders come home with twenty-two new best friends to support them in their discipleship, but they will be equipped with the tools to strengthen your relationship with the Savior, the skills to ask difficult questions about the Restoration of the Gospel, a stronger desire to share what they learned about the Savior with others, and greater love for people who believe differently than they.

Summit is not the end of our disciple-leadership learning, but just the springboard for great things to come.
