Thailand is currently facing major labor shortage issues and a quality workforce is crucial for taking economic development to the next level. Despite the significant amount of resources spent on education, students’ performance in core subjects (mathematics, science, and English language) is low and has not improved in recent years. Because of this, in 2020, nearly 400,000 high school graduates reported no job prospects.
While education in Thailand is prioritized in government policy, budgetary limitations result in lower standards of instruction, building quality, and education accessibility. The average Thai student-to-teacher ratio is 55 to 1 and many students travel 40 to 50 miles to receive an education.
This summer, HXP Builders will be building additional classrooms at a school near Chiang Mai. This space will allow more students in the local community to access an education and provide future employment opportunities and an ability to provide for themselves and their families.
