2024 Project Story- Teach: Japan

The broader need for English-speaking skills among Japanese youth is paramount in today’s globalized world. Japan’s pursuit of English proficiency is driven by its quest for international opportunities. English is the gateway to cross-cultural engagement, career growth, and higher education. Cultivating English skills is a pressing need with far-reaching implications for Japanese youth.

This Summer, HXP volunteers will serve as English instructors for Japanese high school students who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Japan. Learning English from native speakers will open countless opportunities for these youth. This service will help the students be able to apply for colleges abroad, serve missions, and have a greater chance of employment in their country.
