Regional Variations
Pay close attention to the temperature and weather conditions of your location during your specific trip dates—this will be a good indicator of what you should pack! Another good place to look for cues on what to pack clothing-wise is your trip Instagram page (@hxp.locationname). Look at what other Builders are wearing for a better idea of what you should pack.
Location-Specific Variations
Temperature: Hot, Humid, 75°-85°
Checked Bags/Sightseeing: You’ll have access to your checked bag before your sightseeing weekend, but we suggest putting everything your need for that trip in your carry on so you have easy access to it!
Our Pro-Tips:
- It’s really hot and humid, so expect to sweat a lot. We suggest bringing electrolytes packets and shorts that you can wear during evening activities.
Temperature: Hot, Humid, 75°-85°
Checked Bags/Sightseeing: You’ll have access to your checked bag before your sightseeing weekend, but we suggest putting everything your need for that trip in your carry on so you have easy access to it!
Our Pro-Tips:
- It’s really hot and humid, so expect to sweat a lot. We suggest bringing electrolytes packets and shorts that you can wear during evening activities.
- Make sure you have hiking shoes and your headlamp in your carry on, you’ll need it during your first sightseeing trip.

Checked Bags/Sightseeing: You will not have access to your checked bag before you go on weekend sightseeing. Make sure you’ve got everything you need in your carry on and personal item, including three changes of clothes/underwear.
Our Pro-Tips:
- Make sure you bring a coat if you get cold easily! You’ll also want a few sweatshirts for evening activities.
- It may rain on your trip, so be prepared with a rain resistant jacket or umbrella and sweats/a blanket if you get cold.

- There is fresh fruit and cooked vegetables available each day, but some Builders liked having Vitamin C packets for added nutrition.

- Make sure you bring one or two warm sweatshirts! It’s winter in South America, so you’ll want some warm clothing, especially if you run cold.
