The weather in all of these locations is hot, but also very humid. For this reason, we recommend bringing lightweight, loose fitting clothing. It will rain almost every day, so this clothing should also dry quickly.
We recommend bringing a light, water repellant jacket or poncho that you can easily pack away when you don’t need it. If you pack valuables, we suggest bringing a small waterproof bag to put them in (this could even be a resealable, plastic bag).
You will fall in love with your waterproof sandals (like Tevas or Chacos) during your trip. However, make sure you still have close-toed shoes for the worksite.

Checked Bags/Sightseeing: You will not have access to your checked bag before you go on weekend sightseeing. Make sure you’ve got everything you need in your carry on and personal item, including three changes of clothes/underwear.
Our Pro-Tips:
- Don’t forget your flashlight!! It gets dark really early, and during weekend sightseeing, the housing you’ll sleep in doesn’t have electricity.
- There are lots of bugs, so bring plenty of bug spray and anti-itch cream. These mosquito repellent bracelets are a great option for added protection.
