We know you’ve probably had a few questions about COVID-19 testing and regulations during your trip. This blog will help answer those questions, and outline exactly what you need to know before you leave.

Should I quarantine before I go?

We strongly suggest that you self-quarantine one week prior to your trip to help ensure you do not get COVID before entering the country.

Do I need to get tested before I leave?

No, a COVID test is not required to get into Kenya.

Where should I take my test?

If you’d like to test before your trip, you’re welcome to get tested anywhere that provides approved tests: pharmacies, doctor’s offices, testing companies, etc. For same day testing options, refer to the link below:

If I get a positive test result before my trip, can I get a refund?

As stated when you registered, there will be no refund for your current trip if you test positive or are unable to acquire a negative result before departure (see our COVID Response page for more information).

Will I have to take any more COVID tests once I’m on my trip?

COVID Vaccine Requirements?

The Covid-19 vaccine is required for all 2022 HXP participants. You will need to bring your physical vaccine card with you on your trip.

If you are not fully vaccinated or bring a counterfeit vaccine card you will not be allowed on your HXP trip.

Do not laminate your vaccine card, it may not be accepted.

Are there any other COVID requirements?

Incoming Travelers are required to have a QR code showing a completed, verified COVID vaccine card. You will do this through Global Haven. You can fill that form out at least one week before leaving for the trip so you can get it back in time. After you register on the website, the code will be sent to your email.

The Kenya Ministry of Health launched the Travelers Health Surveillance Form. Do this before you leave for the trip, and have it printed. When it asks for seat number you can put N/A.

Masks are required in all public spaces.

What happens if I test positive while on my trip?

If you test positive for COVID-19 while on your trip, you will be required to quarantine at your own expense . We recommend obtaining health insurance to cover this potential cost, in case you test positive while in-country.

You’ve got this!

Now take a deep breath. We know it seems like a lot, but we’ll have you out serving on your trip in no time!

With love,

Your HXP Team
