We know you’ve probably had a few questions about COVID-19 testing and regulations before and during your trip. This blog will help answer those questions, and outline exactly what you need to know before you leave.

Should I quarantine before I go?

We strongly suggest that you self-quarantine one week prior to your trip to help ensure a negative test result for coming home.

If you decide to test and test positive, we will do our best to put you on a later trip, but there is no guarantee this will be possible. You would need to pay for your new trip in full and there would be no refund for the original trip you were scheduled on.

Do I need to get tested before I leave?

When should I take my test?

Where should I take my test?

You’re welcome to get tested anywhere that provides approved tests; pharmacies, doctor’s offices, testing companies, etc.For same day testing options, refer to the link below:

Three things to know ahead for your Covid test:

If I get a positive test result before my trip, can I get a refund?

You do not need a test because you are fully vaccinated. If you decide to test and test positive, as stated when you registered, there will be no refund for your current trip if you test positive or are unable to acquire a negative result before departure (see our COVID-Response page for more information).

Will I have to take any more COVID tests once I'm on my trip?

No COVID test is required upon arrival unless travelers shows extreme symptoms. The U.S. recently announced that Covid tests are no longer required to return to the U.S. at the end of your trip. All money that has already been paid for these tests will be refunded to you from HXP.

COVID Vaccine Requirements?

The Covid-19 vaccine is required for all 2022 HXP participants. You will need to bring your physical vaccine card with you on your trip. Do not laminate or modify your vaccine card in any way.

If you are not fully vaccinated or bring a counterfeit vaccine card you will not be allowed on your HXP trip.

A booster dose is required if you were fully vaccinated more than nine months before you arrive in Tahiti. We will continue to stay up to date with current news in Tahiti and strongly encourage you to do the same. Updated COVID requirements can be found here.

Tahiti recognizes Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Nuvaxovid, Covishield, and Johnson & Johnson.

Are there any other COVID requirements?

We are expected to wear masks when indoors. No curfew is mandated.

Please print your COVID test results before your trip. Talk to your Trip Leader if you have any issues printing your results.

What happens if I test positive while on my trip?

If you test positive for COVID-19 while on your trip, you will be required to quarantine at your own expense . We recommend obtaining health insurance to cover this potential cost, in case you test positive while you’re in Tahiti.

If you test positive, you must complete a seven-day quarantine. Any close contact of a traveler who tests positive must comply with the quarantine as well.

You've got this!

Now take a deep breath. It may seem like a lot, but we’ll have you out and serving on your trip in no time!

With love,

Your HXP Team
