We know you’ve probably had a few questions about COVID-19 testing before and during your trip. This blog will help answer those questions, and outline exactly when to take your COVID test before you leave.

Should I quarantine before I go?

We strongly suggest that you self-quarantine one week prior to your trip to help ensure a negative test result. If you do test positive, or do not receive a negative test result in time, we will do our best to put you on a later trip, but there is no guarantee this will be possible. You would need to pay for your new trip in full and there would be no refund for the original trip you were scheduled on.

Do I need to get tested before I leave?

No, this is no longer required.

When should I take my test?

Not required anymore.

Where should I take my test?

Not needed

If I get a positive test result before my trip, can I get a refund?

You do not need to get tested before your trip unless you would like to.

As stated when you registered, there will be no refund for your current trip if you test positive or are unable to acquire a negative result before departure. (See our COVID Response page for more information).

Three things to know ahead for your Covid test:

Will I have to take any more COVID tests once I'm on my trip?

You will take a rapid-antigen test on the second day of your tripYou must pay $10 USD for this test on your Builder Portal before departure. The U.S. recently announced that Covid tests are no longer required to return to the U.S. at the end of your trip. All money that has already been paid for the return test will be refunded to you from HXP.

COVID Vaccine Requirements?

The Covid-19 vaccine is required for all 2022 HXP participants. You will need to bring your physical vaccine card with you on your trip. Do not laminate or modify your vaccine card in any way.

If you are not fully vaccinated or bring a counterfeit vaccine card you will not be allowed on your HXP trip.

Currently, the booster is not required, but this is subject to change. We strongly encourage you to stay up to date with the current news within Fiji. Updated Covid requirements can be found on the Fiji Travel webpage

The Fijian government recognizes AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, Nuvaxovid, Coronavac, Covidshield, BBIBP-CorV, Covaxin, and Sputnik V vaccines.

Are there any other COVID requirements?

Fiji has partner countries that can travel to Fiji without quarantine. If you are traveling to Fiji and have stayed in another country prior to 14 days before the trip, please review this list, to check entry restrictions on certain locations.

For the first 3 days, we will be staying in CFC-approved lodging. Masks and social distancing are encouraged in public spaces both indoors and outdoors.

Please print your Covid test results before your trip. Talk to your Trip Leader if you have any issues printing your results.

What happens if I test positive while on my trip?

If you test positive for COVID-19 while on your trip, you will be required to quarantine at your own expense . We recommend obtaining health insurance to cover this potential cost, in case you test positive while in-country.

If you test positive you will need to isolate for 7 days if guest is fever less for 24 hours and symptoms have improved.

You've got this!

Now take a deep breath. We know it seems like a lot to figure out, but there really are a lot of good testing options available this year. If you take the time now to make a plan for your COVID-19 tests, everything will run smoothly, and we’ll have you out serving on your trip without any issues.

With love,

Your HXP Team
