We know you’ve probably had a few questions about COVID-19 testing and regulations before and during your trip. This blog will help answer those questions, and outline exactly what you need to know before you leave.

Should I quarantine before I go?

We strongly suggest that you self-quarantine one week prior to your trip to help ensure a negative test result. If you do test positive, or do not receive a negative test result in time, we will do our best to put you on a later trip, but there is no guarantee this will be possible. You would need to pay for your new trip in full and there would be no refund for the original trip you were scheduled on.

Do I need to get tested before I leave?

No test needed if vaccinated. If special circumstances do not allow you to be vaccinated then a Viral test is needed within 24 hours of travel.

Where should I take my test?

If you’d like to test before your trip, you’re welcome to get tested anywhere that provides approved tests: pharmacies, doctor’s offices, testing companies, etc. For same day testing options, refer to the link below:

If I get a positive test result before my trip, can I get a refund?

As stated when you registered, there will be no refund for your current trip if you test positive or are unable to acquire a negative result before departure (see our COVID Response page for more information).

Will I have to take any more COVID tests once I'm on my trip?

No.

COVID Vaccine Requirements?

The Covid-19 vaccine is required for all 2022 HXP participants. You will need to bring your physical vaccine card with you on your trip.

If you are not fully vaccinated or bring a counterfeit vaccine card you will not be allowed on your HXP trip.

Are there any other COVID requirements?

All foreign tourists traveling to Belize, regardless of personal health insurance coverage, must purchase additional insurance ($18 USD) to cover COVID-19 for 21 days. Once you’ve applied, you’ll be able to access/download a PDF of the policy details—upload this form to your Builder Portal under the “COVID Test” section of the “Health Info” tab at least 72 hours before your trip starts.

The application asks for the arrival, departure, and coverage start dates. Put the first date of your trip of arrival and coverage start date, and the final date of your trip for the departure date.

Click the button below to apply for your travel insurance.

We have asked that builders bring masks and carry them on hand at all times to be sensitive to the safety of the locals. Gathering restrictions may be in place in certain areas. While no health forms are required at this time, these guidelines are always subject to change.  We strongly encourage you to stay up to date with current news.

What happens if I test positive while on my trip?

If you test positive for COVID-19 while on your trip, you will be required to quarantine at your own expense . We recommend obtaining health insurance to cover this potential cost, in case you test positive while in-country.

You've got this!

Now take a deep breath. We know it may seem like a lot to figure out, but we’ll have you out serving on your trip in no time!

With love,

Your HXP Team
